New research from the DWP has shown that age discrimination is still a real problem in Britain today. The Attitude to Age report showed that one third of those asked said that they had experienced ageism at least once in the last year.
I have actually experienced this through an employee I am helping. Her organization, a charity, are restructuring. She spoke to the Finance Director about a position she was interested in. The Finance Director was initially encouraging, then said “But wouldn’t it be better to give this to one of your younger colleagues?”!! OMG – ageism is alive and kicking, and in a charity aiming to help “more mature” people!
