Which of the following counts as a disability?
Is it cancer, being left-handed, or alcoholism? One of them counts as a disability.
Any other options? Cancer.
Cancer, at the moment of diagnosis is a disability because it changes your life forever. Alcoholism is an illness, it’s not a disability. Once you have cancer you are only ever in remission from cancer. It can always come back. The point about this is if you wanted to get rid of them you couldn’t use that as a reason to get rid of them.
This one guy who was diagnosed with kidney cancer, told his bosses and said look, I’ve got my schedule of treatment and I’ll be out for these days and I’ll take holidays, whereupon they fired him because he was going to be out of the office too much. That is the type of situation that the law was brought in to stop.
