Neil Newman, Manager of Kingsdown Golf Club, had previously dealt with HR matters through a combination of his own limited knowledge, the golf clubs advisory service and internet searches. As a club they had very few issues relating to staff and although they were aware there were potential pitfalls there was no urgency to change the way they managed things.
“I was sent a copy of Carolyne’s book “Keeping you out of the rough” which had been on my desk for a couple of weeks, when I found myself in a situation where advice was needed on an HR matter.
“I decided I needed professional support and went through a process of checking out Golf HR’s credentials.
“My first port of call was to ring some of the other Club Managers who had given testimonials on Golf HR’s website. The individuals concerned were very positive about how Golf HR was working with them and these recommendations led me to engage Carolyne’s services.
“Working with Golf HR has been great. As a team they have dealt with my questions with expediency, I always get a quick response and it comes back in a simple, helpful manner. I feel I have the support I need to go through the current process without it becoming “sticky” as we are following the right approach to the situation.
“In addition to this we are in the middle of rewriting our handbooks and contracts and whilst finding time to do them is a challenge (for me), it is a simple process that has been laid out very clearly and simply.
“The key benefits of having Golf HR is the knowledge that I have the right support which takes away any worry when dealing with staff issues. It is also good to know that the new handbooks and contracts with keep us up to date and work as a preventative against potential future issues also.”
